Ecologists Are Preparing the Routes for the Summer Educational Season

The first expedition of another field season of the Silver Taiga Foundation ecologists is devoted to the preparation of the Komi Model Forest demonstration routes for the educational courses, seminars, and excursions, which have been traditionally organized and conducted by the Foundation for more than ten years now.

Such courses and seminars are attended by the employees of the State Forest Service, loggers, students, university teachers, and scientists… The demonstration routes used for educational purposes are permanently renewed with their programs update. Besides, last autumn the employees of the Priluzje forestry unit equipped special places to give lessons in the most interesting and illustrative demonstration points. As for the Silver Taiga Foundation, it has prepared popular brochures-descriptions of each educational route and test ground of the Model Forest on request of the Forest Committee of the Komi Republic. This week, prior to the beginning of the educational season in the Model Forest, the Foundation employees will go through all seven demonstration routes and five test grounds once more. Their task is to remove all pendent or fallen trees accumulated during the winter time on the path, renew the bridges and passages, install demonstration stands with descriptions and schematic maps on the starting points of the routes. On Friday the volunteers together with the Silver Taiga Director Yury Pautov will join the ecologists. Two days will be devoted to an acquaintance of the new young Foundation employees and its voluntary assistants with the forest life, varieties of the forest natural dynamics, and relations between a man and forest on a specific territory.
