Audit of Forestry Units will be held in March

At the meeting held on December 24, 2010 in the State Forestry Service of the Komi Republic the issue of forestry units’ certification has been discussed.

As it is known already the Komi Republic is the one region in Russia where the territories of the whole forestry units are certified but not only leasing areas of separate logging companies. Forestry units act as managers of the groups which include logging companies interested in certification. Interaction of logging companies, forestry units and the State Forestry Service of the Komi Republic helps to simplify and make cheaper the preparation to the audit and gives an opportunity to small and middle business to participate in the process of certification. At the same time the certification of forest management increases the quality of forest use and implementation of forestry and this is interesting both for forestry service and population.

The meeting also considered the issue of the upcoming audit of forestry units which will held in March 2011.
