SevLesPil Employees Improved Their FSC Certification Skills
Silver Taiga representatives arranged a three-day FSC certification training course for the employees of SevLesPil.
The workshop participants extended their knowledge with regard to FSC requirements. In particular, one of the classes conducted by the environmental expert Nikolay Shilov was focused on recommendations for the Red Book species habitat preservation.
Many practical tasks that the participants had to fulfil right in the forest were surely an advantage. This time, the forestry foreman and white collars of the company enriched their knowledge, and what is more important – discussed possible options for putting various FSC requirements into action at logging areas of the Luzales company and demonstration routes of Komi Model Forest with Yury Pautov, the trainer.
Another “practical” day was arranged in Syktyvdin district. The trainees guided by the ecologist Nikolay Shilov visited three sites of the local harvesting companies and practiced demarcation of logging areas with the consideration of landscape borders, key biotope identification and preservation methods, detected logging violations and discussed other potential scenarios at those sites.
As Nikolay Shuktomov reported, the workshop participants turned out to be well prepared and got easily involved in discussions, so the feedback was provided immediately.
To conclude the training course, the participants passed a test and were awarded with the certificates.
