Udora Librarians Share Their Experience with the Colleagues From the Arkhangelsk Region
The member of the Model River Mezen project Working Group, the Director of the Udora Centralized Library System Alina Vaneeva and her Deputy Ludmila Obrezkova have had a meeting with their colleagues from Leshukonje village (Arkhangelsk region) in order to present the experience of the awareness-building efforts in cooperation with Silver Taiga Foundation.
The Udora Centralized Library System has become already a reliable partner of Silver Taiga Foundation under Model River Mezen project. The rural librarians organize open air Summer Reading Rooms in the Udora villages, this time for the fourth year in a row. Such rooms give an opportunity to the adults and children not only to get acquainted with new ecological newspapers and magazines but also to take part in different competitions, guessing games etc. Besides, the Udora librarians have initialized the reader’s conferences under Model River Mezen project. These conferences are devoted to the discussion of the books about river matters and conservation of river resources. In 2015, for example, such conferences were held in the villages of Usogorsk, Mezhdurechensk, Blagoevo with regard to Fedor Abramov’s tale «Once Upon a Time There Lived a Salmon». This year the readers will discuss also the tale of Komi author from Udora Yury Vasyutov «The Mouse is Swimming Up and Down the River». Moreover, the representatives of a central district library in Koslan have organized a propaganda team, which present Model River Mezen project by means of a theatrical performance. The team has visited already not only Udora villages but also the villages of the neighboring Leshukonje.
The Udora librarians presented everything mentioned above to their colleagues from Leshukonje village. A presentation «Creative tandem» introduced different work forms of the environmental awareness building among the population and kindled a lively interest of the participants. The librarians from Leshukonje also presented their experience. It was obvious that the librarians both from Udora and from Leshukonje have a mutual interest and are ready for cooperation. We hope that the librarians from Leshukonje will join our «Mezen» project as actively and creatively as their Udora colleagues.
