The Komi Model Forest Routes Are Ready for the Educational Courses

As usual, the Silver Taiga Foundation ecologists have started another field season with preparation of the Komi Model Forest demonstration routes for educational courses, seminars and excursions, which have already been organized and conducted by the Foundation during summer and autumn for fifteen years and have always been popular among the forest relations participants – logging companies, scientists, representatives of the forest service, including the ones from other regions and countries, industry-related educational institutions…

The demonstration routes, prepared on the Model forests territory and used for educational purposes, need a regular brush up. Firstly, the educational programs themselves are regularly updated, which causes the necessity to update the demonstration sites. Secondly, after the winter period, bridges and passages, demonstration stands with descriptions and schematic maps installed on the routes, and places designed for classes usually require renewal and repair.

That is exactly what the Silver Taiga ecologists Alexander Borovlyov, Nikolay Shilov, and Nikolay Shuktomov have been doing during three May days. They have removed all pendent or fallen trees and excessive shrubbery from the paths and repaired the places equipped for classes on the routes. It turned out that some information boards installed on the starting points of the routes, had become quite unsightly over the winter and will also be renewed in the near future.

On Monday the first educational courses in this season were held on the Komi Model Forest demonstration sites for the Mondi Syktyvkar contractors.
